If that were black, I'd risk a divorce to get it.

I know, right. This is a consistent theme. I find beige ones in beautiful condition because they were owned by old people, or awesome black ones beat to hell with a million miles because they were owner by sleazy lawyers and drug dealers.
WHY CAN't I HAVE BOTH?!?!

Worth every penny, and still my standard of how a big luxury car should be. Unbelievably comfortable, while striking a good balance between simplicity and all the features anyone really needs, and exceedingly well built. They've aged much better than any S since, in my opinion. That's what happens when a car doesn't have rapidly obsolete technology & electronics permanently integrated into the car.
Not a bad way to cover some miles, until you have to do head gaskets. Then you get to pull the engine & spend 8 hours sitting on a stool next to it, bathed in cutting oil while you drill, tap, and helicoil all 32 head bolt holes, 6 threads at a time. Still worth it, though, because that's not too common anymore & many have been done by now.
For my money, this & the E38 BMW 7-series are the last of the great German luxury liners. New models may be more powerful, sumptuous, or technologically advanced, but this is a luxury car, distilled to its essence. Comfort, power, quality, and presence.

I consider the last old school one to be the W124, but that is just me. Those 126's came in so many less bland color combos than smoke silver/parchment, but that one sure is clean.
